Snow-Cross Races In Owen Sound

Members of the East Side Snowmobile Club got together  Tuesday night and decided to postpone the event because there simply isn’t enough snow at Victoria Park in Owen Sound. It was scheduled for  January 16th and 17th. Race co-chair Peter Van Dolder says as a result, they have decided to move the Snow-cross races to the weekend of January 30th and 31st this year.Van Dolder says they rely on the city and private contractors to dump snow at Victoria Park in front of the grandstand, but at this time only a handful of trucks had unloaded there this winter. About 500 truckloads of snow is needed to make a good race track and he is confident there will be enough snow on hand by the end of January. Van Dolder says fortunately there was an opening in the Snow-cross schedule, so racers should be able to come to Owen Sound January 30th and 31st.
