CROSS COUNTRY SKIING OR SNOW SHOEING in Ontario is a wonderful way to get some exercise while enjoying the outdoors. There are many trails located close to Owen Sound. From mid December to February you can pretty well count on some awesome trails. The trails in all locations can range from beginner to the advanced levels having both hills and flat areas. Most trails are in the bush so they are very scenic. A heated Chalet is at most places, so when you are cold you can go inside and enjoy the warmth while having some hot chocolate. There are 3,600 km, or 2,250 miles, of groomed trails in District 9 and no major bodies of water to navigate over. Sawmill Cross Country Skiing- Bruce Ski Club

Great Cross Country Skiing
Sawmill Cross Country Ski Trail is maintained by the Bruce Ski Club, this is the best skate-skiing trail in the area. From mid-December to February, a weekly snowfall of 1/2 metre is common. The trail is both hilly and flat. Much of the trail is in the bush and there is also a heated chalet available to all skiers. Maximum loop is 8.5 km. On any given night when the stars are out and the snow is falling, the trail lights are on. Come out and join the fun this winter. Make it a Great getaway weekend here in Grey Bruce.
