Sauble Beach Tourism
Located on Lake Huron, beautiful Sauble Beach boasts 11 kilometres of white sand, making it the second-longest freshwater beach in the world and sparking comparisons to the beaches of the Mediterranean! Created by unique sandbar deposits that make the water shallow and warm, the sand dunes at Sauble Beach are part of an ecosystem that has evolved over thousands of years. The dunes are home to many rare and unique plants, grasses, and birds. Sauble Beach sunsets are some of the best in the world! Wave action creates a lot of fun, but they can sometimes be quite large, so be aware with young children. Bicycles and jet skis are available for rent, or play mini golf, go on water trampolines, visit the arcade or amusement park, or enjoy the many restaurants and unique shops. Hourly and daily paid parking is in effect along the beach, some side streets, and in the municipal lots. Public washrooms are available. Lake Francis Cottages is located 20 minutes from Sauble Beach. Visitors to Lake Francis Cottages take full advantage of a year-round, four-season, outdoor playground, whether they are snowmobiling, skiing, snowshoeing, golfing, fishing, boating/canoeing, hiking, biking, horseback riding, dog sledding, sightseeing, swimming, bird watching, rock climbing, or simply relaxing by their own campfire while gazing at the Milky Way or perhaps even the Northern Lights. We have created lists of things to do for Owen Sound Tourism, Sauble Beach Tourism, Georgian Bay - Lake Huron vacation destinations! We are located at the base of the beautiful Bruce Peninsula, a very unique and special area which is home to one of the world’s Unesco Biospheres, the Niagara Escarpment, with its towering limestone cliffs, ancient cedars, and rare plant life. Check out the Grey and Bruce County local attraction pages that we have provided to see a small sampling of some of the great things to see and do at and around Lake Francis Cottages!

Harrison Park Bird Sanctuary Owen sound
Posted on March 20th, 2009 No commentsBeautiful day in Grey Bruce the sun is bright and warm. We went for a drive to Harrison Park in Owen Sound to look at the swans and ducks, we also had a very nice lunch at Harrison Park Inn. This park has great hiking trails where you can see deer, rabbit and a wonderful place for bird watching. On our way home we drove along Georgian Bay, there were still a few huts out with fisherman trying for there last kick at ice fishing for the season. Lake Francis is so very close to many places and has so many things to do.
