Summerfolk 2011 Owen Sound Ontario
The Georgian Bay Folk Society offers an opportunity for musicians to get on the Summerfolk stage! Saturday, March 26 at the Bayshore Community Centre, Owen Sound at 7:00pm. This event is held the last Saturday in March each year. Twelve acts perform at Last Chance in hopes of securing a place in the Summerfolk lineup and will be able to perform on the main stage. Come out and find out who that will be! This is a Great night to listen to some great music. Tickets available at the door. Featuring performances by young musicians 21 years of age and under, Discoveries is a series of Showcase events that will bring the brightest and best to the Summerfolk stage. 3 acts will be chosen to play at Summerfolk. Rock The Park 2011 London Ontario
Summer is just around the corner. There are many different things to see and do. We are blessed with living on The Bruce Peninsula near Sauble Beach the Daytona Beach of Ontario. We try as a family to also experience as many different things as we can in the summer. Last year Ray and I were able to go to Rock The Park an outdoor event at Harris Park in London Ontario and would not miss this year. http://www.rockthepark.ca/ Some of the performers last year were Alice Cooper, Heart, Peter Frampton, Night Ranger, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Collective Soul, 3 Doors Down and many more. They have day passes and weekend passes. This is a Great event that you don’t want to miss in 2011. The performers have not yet been announced for 2011 but will be soon. Summer goes by very quickly so make it a Great one and try renting one of our cottages. Lake Francis Cottages is located 10 minutes from Owen Sound and 20 minutes from Sauble Beach. We are on a private inland lake with lots of Great Bass fishing and swimming. Maybe take in an outdoor concert like Rock The Park, hike the Beautiful Bruce Trail, spend a day at Sauble Beach, camp at Tobermory, check out the ROM in Toronto, catch a movie at the drive inn in Owen Sound. It is Great to see that every Tuesday night in Sauble Beach this summer will be a Party, with classic live music at a 50’s 60’s street dance and a vintage car show. The street dance and car show run from June to September. The Caverners, Canada’s Best Beatles Tribute band are kicking off the summer and the following week we are proud to bring the 2005 World Champion Elvis, Glenn Aitchison to Sauble Beach. This sounds like a Great way to spend an evening this summer.

Guest include local country music artist Tommy Gilham, The Black Family of Markdale, former Tanglefoot members Steve and Rob Ritchie and Al Parrish. Other performers include Rob McLean, Don Buchanan, Jamie Smith and members of Dancemakers Dance Studio. Also appearing will be Pastor Dave Oppertshauser from Sauble Christian Fellowship Church recently back from Haiti to speak about his experiences. Several local businesses have graciously offered to sponsor the minimal expenses associated with this concert so that 100% of the proceeds can go to the cause. They include Dancemakers/Sportmakers, Tannahill Funeral Home, The Roxy Theatre and Bayshore Broadcasting.
