Summer is just around the corner. There are many different things to see and do. We are blessed with living on The Bruce Peninsula near Sauble Beach the Daytona Beach of Ontario. We try as a family to also experience as many different things as we can in the summer. Last year Ray and I were able to go to Rock The Park an outdoor event at Harris Park in London Ontario. This was the second year we attended this event. The line up in 2011 Featured Stone Temple Pilots, Our Lady Peace, Sloan and Bleeker Ridge, Meatloaf, Cheap Trick, Blue Oyster Cult and Bad Co’s Brian Howe and more…. Get your tickets early they sell out fast. This is a Great event that you don’t want to miss in 2012. Summer goes by very quickly so make it a Great one and try renting one of our cottages. Lake Francis Cottages is located 10 minutes from Owen Sound and 20 minutes from Sauble Beach The Datona Beach Of Ontario. We are on a private inland lake with lots of Great Bass fishing and swimming. The Wiarton Willie Groundhog Festival is one of the largest winter events in Ontario, with more than 40 planned activities, celebrating Canada’s weather-prognosticating groundhog.
Predicting the coming of spring is a very difficult and often controversial activity. Come February 2nd, there is only one way to be sure, and that is to wake up for Willie’s Prediction. Pancakes are ready by 6:30am and the rest is up to the laws of nature. The action starts more than a week earlier with the Sauble Beach “Winterfest” night-time parade, a Christmas tree bonfire, Battle of the Bands, and all kinds of other great indoor and outdoor events. Saugeen Summer Night Music Festival {2nd Annual}. Guest Include Johny Reid, Terri Clark, George Canyon, Doc Walker, Dean Brody and many more. This event will take place on June 19 2010. Rain or Shine at Clifford Arena and Ball Park. A shuttle bus will take you to the venue if you are camping at River Place Park Campground. More info call 519-665-2228. This event starts the last weekend in January-1st week of February. Great outdoor and indoor activities for the whole family. It is the Largest Winter Event In Ontario. Sauble Beach is lit up with its night time parade, Christmas tree bonfire, crafts, food booths and the battle of the bands. The following weekend then kicks off with pancakes on the grill at 630 am. and 40 other different events throughout the day. You don’t want to miss Wiarton Willey’s prediction, the coming of spring. This event has been taking place since 1956. Make it a Great weekend or week and stay at Lake Francis Cottages located 20 min. from the festival.

Stoney Keppel Riders Club was formed in 1972. It is one of the oldest organized snowmobile clubs in Ontario. Lots of hard work and dedication from the land owners and members goes into snowmobile trails to make it a safe and an enjoyable experience. This club holds many different events including a sled swap and pancake breakfast at the Shallow Lake Service Station, the Wiarton Trail Blazers Poker Run scheduled for Sat. February 13 2010 and Family Day Chili Cookout on Sat. Feb. 13 2010 from 11a:m-3p:m. Many of our guests at lakefranciscottages look forward year after year to meeting new friends at this Great Club. Ray and I have enjoyed stopping in at the Stoney Kepple Shack when we are snowmobiling with our kids and friends. When you are out for a ride on a beautiful snowy day take the time and check out the warm and friendly atmosphere at the Stoney Keppel Riders Club located on the Top Trail “B” in District 9.
