Snowmobile Trails– “Sled Heaven”
Lake Francis Cottages has direct access -District 9 Snowmobile Trails.
Grey Bruce has become one of the most popular regions in Ontario to go snowmobiling. We receive an average of 3.57 metres, or 9 feet, of snow each winter and have the highest number of Clubhouses of any region in Ontario. At any given time there can be a group of snowmobilers mingling at any one of these clubs. There are 3,600 km, or 2,250 miles, of groomed trails in District 9 and no major bodies of water to navigate over. Wind your way from Lake Huron & Georgian Bay through to the Niagara Escarpment & Beaver Valley, enjoying twists, turns & rolling hills, or barrel down abandoned rail lines! Make it a GREAT get away weekend or week this winter in Ontario
Beautiful day in Grey Bruce the sun is bright and warm. We went for a drive to Harrison Park in Owen Sound to look at the swans and ducks, we also had a very nice lunch at Harrison Park Inn. This park has great hiking trails where you can see deer, rabbit and a wonderful place for bird watching. On our way home we drove along Georgian Bay, there were still a few huts out with fisherman trying for there last kick at ice fishing for the season. Lake Francis is so very close to many places and has so many things to do.
Every year in Febuary or March we spend 3 days camping in Macgregor Point with our kids and friends. Such quality time talking, playing, eating and just relaxing. The nights are crisp and the stars are amazing. There is nothing like a camp fire going with snow all around, roasting hot dogs and having lots of laughs. In the morning we were awaken by the sound of geese returning to Grey Bruce. During the day the kids find a spot in the bush to sit and they feed the birds by hand. Ontario has some of the most beautiful landscapes around. The great out doors has so much to offer at such a reasonable cost. Hotels and motels can be quite expensive and you still have to eat out. Cabins, cottages and camping is the way to go with kids, they absolutely Love it. It was a good break to be away from the house for a couple of days.
Birds should start to arrive in Grey Bruce and Sauble Beach area. Cardinals are here at Lakefranciscottages all season long. Was a great snowmobile destination, read about us in Snow Goers Magazine.
