On Friday April 17/09 my daughter came home with a smile from ear to ear. She won 1st prize on a history project she did on the Owen Sound Fire Department. The project consisted of a back board that she painted flames on and then added the information including an intervue with a very nice firemen who dressed her in a full firemen suit so she could feel the weight that these men carry on their backs . On the table next to the board she had a booklet with extra pictures, a fire truck, boot and a helmet. In the next two weeks or so it will be on display at the Grey Roots Museum and Archives in Owen Sound and she will compete again against other schools. We are very proud of her, and wish her luck.
Just Friends Free Easter Dinner
Happy Easter
The day began at 10 am with a group of 40 friends sharing Easter day in the kitchen at the Salvation Army. Invitations were given to 230 people throughout the community of Owen Sound to join us to a free turkey dinner. 30 turkeys were dressed with stuffing, 100lbs of potatoes mashed, peas done in a ginger spice, cranberries layed on top of a leaf of lettuce and apple pie with ice cream. Doors opened at 3pm with entertainment being preformed by Scott Almond who had this close group clapping and singing to the sounds of Bob Seager and Johnny Cash. At prayers we all Thanked God for allowing us to do this for these guests in need and also for the Love we have as Friends in each other. The presentation of the plate when it was served to our guests by Just Friends was mouth watering. The smile on the children, men and women was enough to see that they were all Happy to be here. When dinner was over and the guests had left , the kitchen was cleaned and the hall was swept. I know as we all drove home are thoughts were that we had all spent a very fulfilling day. I hope that next year we can spend this Special day again together.

Beautiful day in Grey Bruce the sun is bright and warm. We went for a drive to Harrison Park in Owen Sound to look at the swans and ducks, we also had a very nice lunch at Harrison Park Inn. This park has great hiking trails where you can see deer, rabbit and a wonderful place for bird watching. On our way home we drove along Georgian Bay, there were still a few huts out with fisherman trying for there last kick at ice fishing for the season. Lake Francis is so very close to many places and has so many things to do.
